Biography of "Radamel Falcao"

                      Garcia Radamel Falcao plays a striker for Monaco. He was born on February 10, 1986 in a Colombian town Santa Marta.
His career started in 1996 in a football academy of Millonarios. He had spent 3 years there before he received a proposition to move to the academy of Lanceros Boyacà. Falcao spent there 2 years before he made a huge step towards success. The year 2001 was remarkable for Radamel who joined the academy of River Plate where he stayed until the end of his youth career.
When Falcao finished his study at the football academy in 2005 he was offered a place in the first team of River Plate. Radamel agreed penning the first official contract in his life. During all the time that he spent in the Argentine squad he appeared on the pitch often enough taking part in many important games for the club. Falcao spent 4 years playing for the Argentine side having made 88 appearances with 34 goals.
Portugal was the next destination of the gifted man. He signed a 5-year contract joining Porto. The Portuguese side had to cash out paying €5.5 million to have the player in their squad. Radamel made a huge progress playing for the Portuguese club. Having appeared in 50 games in two seasons he scored the outstanding 41 goals. During his stay at Porto he won the Europa League cup of 2010/11 breaking an old record of the tournament’s best striker. Radamel scored 17 goals in 14 games in Europe, more than the previous man to set the record – Jürgen Klinsmann (15 goals). Such a tremendous statistics couldn’t but attract the big clubs who wanted to sign the Colombian.
Nevertheless Atlético Madrid was more persistent in their effort than other clubs who wanted to sign him. By that time the clubs had to pay a fortune for the player and most of them fell out of the race reckoning he wasn’t worth such a huge sum of money. However the management of the team from Porto insisted on the price tag of €40 million. The Madrid club were awarded for their effort during the very first season of his performance for ‘Los Colchoneros’. Radamel hit the back of the net of Athletic’s rivals 36 times in 42 games thus breaking the club’s record: he scored more than anyone else during the first season for Atlético Madrid. Also he managed to accomplish a task of bringing a trophy to the club’s hall of fame as Atlético won the UEFA Europa League cup that season leaving behind Athletic Bilbao in the final match. After netting a stunning 52 goals in 67 matches for Atletico Radamel Falcao became a target for top European clubs and at the end of 2012/2013 season joined Monaco for a reported fee of €50m.
As for his international career it can be mentioned that he started to play for the national teams of his country in 2005 having spent 10 games with 3 goals for Colombia U-20 team. Since 2007 Falcao has played in 43 games for his national team netting 16 goals as of May 2013.
