Basics About Orlando Golf Courses

By Elena McDowell

Orlando golf courses were designed by top golf course architects around the globe. They were designed by teams of expert golf course architects who belong to various private groups. Golfing grounds refer to fields where golf game is played. The old principles have to be followed when laying out fields to ensure the game is playable.

Most fields usually stick to the original landscape with little or no modifications at all. Most natural hazards such as creeks, ponds, dense vegetation, and steep inclines are maintained though they are included in areas they initially did not exist. Certain natural areas like flood plains with wetlands may not be suitable for golfing. Most sand traps and bunkers are always artificial or man made.

Modern fields are much bigger than the earlier versions. The reason for expansion of current grounds is introduction of better equipment that allows golfers to hit the ball farther than before. Safety and pressure from golfers with this new equipment has also played a significant role in expansion of the courses. New courses measuring between 7000 to 8000 yards are now available.

Out of environmental concern some groups of activists and environmentalists oppose expansion or construction of additional fields. They say that the grounds hinder migration of birds or animals and that the homes of different birds and animals are spoiled during construction. It must be known that some fields are home for various species of animals and birds.

A course might be built on unused farms, desert, forest, amongst quarries or strip mines, or on sandy places along the coast. Some nations have firm laws that state how and where the fields may be built. In some cases land reform activists and environmentalists take a step of banning golfing tourism in some nations.

A link is the most appropriate area for constructing grounds. Links have thin tops soils and sandy sub soils thus not fit for development of towns or cultivation. Links have well drained soils an aspect that makes them good areas for fields. They have long grasses, exposed sand, and their bushes grow low. Most important golfing championships like open championships are mostly played on link courses.

Many fields have par five to par three holes. Fields with par seven to par six holes are rear. Harder grounds have distant holes or cups whereas easier ones have short spaced holes. The terrain can also dictate whether the field is marked as hard or easy. Long distance tee box is used for tournament golfers. Par four holes may measure 520 yards whereas par three holes might be extended to 270 meters in tournament tee.

Orlando golf courses are large to meet the varied needs of course customers from all regions around the globe. The design of these fields confirm to that laid down rules by the federal government. All people are allowed to play in these fields provided they have the necessary requirements. Golf clubs for hire are available to all who can afford including amateur players or golfers.
