Daniel Bryan: Will An Obstacle Course Race Help Him?

By Rob Sutter

Daniel Bryan has one of the biggest chances of a lifetime going into SummerSlam on Sunday. He's facing off against John Cena for the WWE Championship and it is a championship that the underdog-like star has had his sights set on for quite some time. He's going to have to train extensively, I'd imagine, in order for this match to be one to see. That being said, one has to wonder whether or not an obstacle course race will prove itself as the best method to take up.

There are many words that can be linked to Bryan's wrestling style but quick is one of the words that come to mind first. He's strong for a 5'9'' athlete but this isn't where he thrives. You would have a much better chance of seeing Bryan leap from the turnbuckle than ever watch him press another athlete over his head as if they were a barbell. Bryan's work has revolved around the fact that he moves quickly and I feel as though this is for the best.

It's clear that Bryan has enjoyed much success so far but this did not come without adversity. Even when you watch him in the ring, he always sells the point that he's the underdog in any given situation. This is especially true when he is struck with a big move and he shows the effects of it, adding a sense of realism to a show that many have deemed less than genuine. However, Bryan puts forth the best effort no matter how worn he looks and the same can be tied to this sort of race.

Is it possible for Bryan to find myself working within an obstacle course race? I think that this is a strong possibility, especially when you think about just how competitive this level of race truly is. There is a lot that must be shown in the way of effort and if you're not willing to give one hundred percent, it's not likely that you'll be able to reach the goal with the utmost drive. Make sure that you understand what is involved in such events as Spartan Race.

You can probably guess that I am a fan of an obstacle course race serving as a means of training for any kind of athlete. Bryan is going to be involved in the biggest title match he's ever been part of and now it's a matter of him working twice as hard so that he will be able to seize a victory. I believe that his hard work in the ring speaks for itself and that's just on any given night. When he elevates it further, one has to wonder if there's any chance of him leaving SummerSlam without the WWE Championship.
